I tried grilling them one time and unfortunately had a window open. It took me 3 weeks and 17 gallons of febreeze to get the stench out.
My nice grill spatula melted when I tried to scrape it off, and after the same thing happened to my spade I grabbed the grating with some channel locks and took it back into the woods to dump it. Big. Mistake. Everything within a couple hundred feet of the site died within the next couple of days. Now I have the EPA riding my ass about improper disposal of hazardous materials. It turns out that hunting of spammers and spambots is strongly encouraged, but you are supposed to call in a Hazmat team to dispose of any carcasses. They will use a bulldozer to scoop it up, and all of the ground around it to make sure to get any fluids that have leaked into surrounding land. Then they will drive the entire bulldozer into a lead lined concrete vault. If the driver compleats his duties quickly enough they will let him out of the container before they seal it shut. He will still have to go through a 3 week decontamination proceedure.
The vault will then be shipped to Arizona and stuffed down in the hole they are disposing of nuclear waste in.
This has caused a great deal of aggrevation with neighboring communities. In the words of one resident "We only agreed to let them dispose of nuclear waste here. We don't want anything to do with spammers, and them just deciding to use our nuclear waste hole for spammers is not acceptable. Several of my nieghbors have moved out since they started accepting spammer carcasses."
Moral of the story: Always know the local regulations for hunting and trapping.
